About - the department of higher education , Ministery of human resource development (MHRD), Government of India (GOI) has established National Testing Agency (NTA) as an independent, autonomous and self- sustained premier testing organisation for conducting Joint Entrance Examination (Main), Joint Entrance Examination (Advance) admission criteria to undergraduate engineering programs at NIT's, IIT's, CFTI's ( other centrally funded techncal institutions ), SFI's ( State Funded Institutions), State Engineering Colleges and other institutions shall include the performance in the class 12/equivalent qualifying examination and in the joint entrance examinatin (main). the B.E./ B. Tech. of JEE (Main ) will also be an eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced), which the candidate has to take if he/she is aspiring for admission to the undergraduate programs offered offered by the IIT's. the JEE (Main) will be condudcted twice before admissions in the next academic season. the first JEE (Main) will be held in january whereas the second will be held in April . the students best of the two scores will be considered for preparation of merit list/ Ranking. the examination will be held in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode only , except the questions for drawing test of "B.Arch." which will be held in pen and paper (offline modes).
